Duo robs woman of Rs8.1 lakh in Dadar

A 26-year-old woman travelling with her father was robbed of her belongings by two unidentified motorcycle borne robbers near Krishnakunj building, MB Raut road, near Shivaji Park in Dadar West on Friday.

According to the Shivaji Park police station, Chandani Dinesh Jain(26), a housewife and a resident of Hariniwas building, was travelling with her father to her in-laws place. At around 11pm two unidentified persons on a motorcycle sped along and snatched Jain's handbag. "The pillion rider pushed Jain and snatched her bag from her shoulder before fleeing from the spot," said an officer from Shivaji Park police station.

Shivaji Park police informed that Jain was carrying five gold chains and a kadda approximately of 15 grams worth Rs22,500 along with seven gold coins embedded with American diamonds weighing 25 grams worth Rs37,000.

A kamarpatta of 75 grams worth Rs1,12,500, seven necklace sets of 200 grams worth Rs3,00,000, six bangles weighing 140 grams worth Rs2,10,000, two anklets of almost 60 grams costing Rs90,000, a locket and a pendant of 15 grams worth Rs 22,500, and cash of around Rs15,500. The total valuation of the stolen valuables was enstimated around Rs8,10,000.

''FIR was filed around 12am and the duo have been booked under section 392 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). We have put up a team to trace them. The duo are still absconding,'' said Ashok Jagdale, senior police inspector.
