Automobile component provider Takata has issued a fresh recall for cars to fix a faulty airbag inflator. The company issued a recall for five million cars after a tenth death was linked to the company's faulty airbags.

Takata is the world's largest airbag provider. Since the first death was linked to a faulty airbag component nearly ten years ago, Takata has recalled nearly 19 million cars in what is now one of the largest, longest-spanning automotive scams in the world.

Now, the scope of the issue has also spread to Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz; both the companies had so far not found any cars with faulty airbags.

Airbags provided by Takata have been found to have a faulty airbag inflator which may lead to a rupture on slightest impact, sending metal shrapnel into the passenger or the driver.

The Takata airbag issue further intensified in the last one after dozens of carmakers issued vehicle recalls to fix the issue and many, including Honda, discontinued its contract with the company.
