In the wake of the recent upheaval at Bombay House, Tata Sons Interim Chairman Ratan Tata and ex-Chairman Cyrus Mistry, have both met Prime Minister Narendra Modi separately.

According to a report in The Times of India, while Mistry met Modi on Thursday, Tata met the PM on Friday.

Both are believed to have shared their versions of the events that unfolded in the Tata Sons' boardroom on Monday. In the summary proceedings, an unceremonious vote from the Board members had decided to remove Mistry as the chairman of the group company with immediate effect.

The disgruntled executive called it a coup, and wrote a detailed five-page e-mail to the board and to the trustees, expressing his utter surprise. In the e-mail, which has since gone public, Mistry said that while at the helm, he was reduced to a mere "lame duck" chairman, with the senior Tata presiding over most of the important decisions. He also levelled accusations of misdealings, and corporate decisions taken on the basis of emotions, which has caused losses to the company.

In a report, which has since been refuted by the company, Mistry said that the Tata Group, over time, faced nearly $18 billion in write-downs because of at least five unprofitable businesses that he'd inherited.

The Tatas, in a statement, said that the Board was fast losing confidence in its chairman and also cited non-performance and a departure from the culture and ethos of the company on several occasions, to defend its move.

The listed Tata Group companies have lost nearly Rs 55,000 crore in market value since Mistry's ouster on Monday.

The report also said that Tata had called Finance Minister Arun Jaitley after the ouster, to explain the company's reasons behind the move.
