Now buy pre-fabricated houses on Snapdeal

In another first-of-its-kind offering, e-marketplace operator Snapdeal.com has begun selling pre-fabricated homes. These houses are primarily targeted at buyers looking to build an accommodation facility on their farm house, owned land parcel, a tree-house or house on the open terrace and so on.

Speaking to dna, a Snapdeal spokesperson said, Wood Barn India, a vendor of pre-fabricated homes, has been brought on board to facilitate the transaction. Wood Barn pioneered the segment of wooden structures in the country in 2006 and is sells a variety of houses including 1-room kitchen, 1/2/4 bed-room hall kitchen houses ranging from Rs 13.4 lakh (for 1RK) to Rs 98 lakh (4BHK).

"These are wooden houses that can be readied in two days for occupation. An environment-friendly option, these houses require reduced construction time, offer design flexibility and are low on construction costs as compared with the traditional concrete and cement buildings /houses," the spokesperson said.

Potential buyers can pick any of the configurations by making a down-payment (booking amount) of Rs 20,000. For the balance payment, Snapdeal offers EMI option on credit cards from financial institutions like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Citi Bank.

In another development Snapdeal has tied up with Hero MotoCorp for selling two-wheelers that were priced same as offline dealerships. The initiative witnessed 700 bikes including brands like Splendor, Passion, Glamour, Ignitor, Hunk, Xtreme and the Pleasure scooter being sold within 72 hours.

The e-marketplace operator had earlier partnered with Mahindra & Mahindra for the launch of new Scorpio wherein 100-odd units were sold on the day of the sale. "We were the first e-marketplace in India to sell four-wheelers online. A promising category, we will more than double the sales from the automobiles category to reach Rs 1,000 crore in gross merchandise value in another year from now.

India's premier luxury hotel operator, Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Nepal's Summit Group to market and manage a hotel in that country. To be completed within 36 months The Leela Kathmandu will be the first of the four, series of five-star deluxe hotels located close to the Narainhity Museum in the heart of Kathmandu. While locations for other hotels in Nepal i.e. Lumbini and Pokhara, have been identified the Leela management is yet to zero-in on real estate partners / asset owners of the other three hotels.

Home-grown mobile phone maker Micromax unvield its new Yu brand of Cyanogen OS-based smartphones with the launch of Yu Yureka. Priced Rs 8,999, the smartphone will be sold exclusively sold on Amazon the registrations for which will begin on Friday December 19, 2014, and the smartphones will start shipping in the second week of January.
The Yu Yureka (AO5510) smartphone on Cyanogen OS 11 build based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat – an Android 5.0 Lollipop-based build is also promised. The smartphone features dual-SIM support, with slots for Micro-SIM cards (4G+3G). It bears a 5.5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display with a pixel density of 267ppi and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It runs on a 64-bit 1.5 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC (MSM8939), coupled with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

Featuring a 13-megapixel Sony Exmor CMOS sensor rear autofocus camera with an f/2.2 aperture and flash it also has a front-facing 5-megapixel fixed-focus camera onboard. The Yureka comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB), and sports a 2500mAh Li-Po battery claiming talk time up to 8 hours, standby time up to 310 hours, video playback time of up to six hours, and gaming up to 4 hours.

Pepperfy to open 16 concept stores
Furniture and home e-marketplace operator Pepperfry.com has established an offline presence with the launch of its first concept store 'Studio Pepperfry' in Mumbai. Spread across 2,500 square feet, the studio has been conceived as an experience zone for customers looking to enhance their living spaces.
According to Ashish Shah, founder & COO, Pepperfry, another 16 concept stores will be introduced in major metros by the end of 2015.
