In a unique tie-up, Nestle India has joined hands with Snapdeal to make a comeback into the Indian market, five months after it was first banned.

The popular Maggi noodles were taken off the shelves after they were found to have lead content and MSG beyond permissible limits. These tests were ordered by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). However, the ban was put aside recently after fresh tests by pre-approved labs on the order of the Bombay High Court found that Maggi was fit for consumption.

Snapdeal has listed Maggi on its website, and the e-commerce company will be selling the 'Maggi Welcome Kit' which packs 12 Maggi packets and freebies for a steal-away price of Rs 144.

For this, however, users interested will have to register immediately (with registrations open till 11 pm, November 11) and the sale will go live on Thursday, November 12.

Snapdeal has, however, not disclosed the quantity of packets that will be on sale, but has said that the offer is only on limited stock.

Maggi made a comeback on select retail shelves on Monday.

Nestle India, which sells the Maggi brand, is rolling out the product in a staggered manner across the country, except in eight states where it is still not allowed.

Maggi has been relaunched in 100 towns through 300-odd distributors and will be rolled out in many more areas in the coming days, Nestle India Chairman and Managing Director Suresh Narayanan said.

The two-minute noodles were on sale on Monday too; the stock was soon sold out.
