Gold rose by Rs 139 to Rs 27,306 per 10 grams in futures trade on Wednesday as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firming trend overseas. Gold for delivery in February rose by Rs 139, or 0.51%, to Rs 27,309 per 10 grams, in a business turnover of 314 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month April was also trading higher by Rs 119, or 0.44%, to Rs 27,213 per 10 grams in two lots. Analysts said speculators' widening their bets, tracking a firming global trend, mainly supported the upside in gold prices at futures trade here.
Globally, gold inched up 0.28%, to $1,141.509 (around Rs 77852.63) an ounce in New York on Tuesday.
