Don't want to pay surge price? Become a member, says Ola

Home-grown app-based taxi service, Ola has made a new feature available on its app -- Ola Select. While the debate on surge pricing continues, Ola, through the new feature, has thrown the ball in the customers' court. 

In exchange of an Ola Select membership for one, two, or three months, the taxi aggregator says it will waiver the peak pricing or surge prices applicable on the cabs during rush hour. 

At Rs 549 a month, Rs 1,049 for two months, and Rs 1,449 for three months, the membership seems worth it, given that the company promises to waiver surge pricing on all the rides through the selected period, across categories during the rush hour period.
