Vehicle sales in the domestic market in June grew 11% compared to the same period last year, Bloomberg TV India tweet said. According to the data, domestic sales stood at 1,93,717 units, up 11% on year.

However, vehicle exports were down 21% in the month, at 1,23,252 units.

Most carmakers registered a growth in sales in June, barring Maruti Suzuki, whose production was hampered by a fire at the manufacturing unit of one of its top component providers, Subros. The sales of Honda Cars was also down in the month.

Apart from this, Hyundai India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Ford, Renault, all clocked gains in June.

Hyundai's sales were up 9.7%, Mahindra & Mahindra 5%, Tata Motors 22%, Ford's sales grew two-fold in June to 9,469 units, and Renault also reported an over two-fold jump in sales to 11,837 units.

However, segment-wise, the sales of commercial vehicles remained mostly flat -- with 43,671 units sold compared to 43,735 units in the year-ago period.

Automakers sold 2,73,298 motorcycles in the month, down 5% on year, largely on the back of dismal rural demand.
