It’s summer and a quick look around will tell you that fashionistas have already started to match their summer coolers with quintessential summer colours in their wardrobe. Designers vouch for the fact that pastels are the in shades to sport this season.

Designer Rajat Tangri says that pastels are indeed the order of the day. “Fluorescent and pastel shades will make the sweltering heat a little more bearable. Pastel pinks, peaches, greens and blues are just some of the shades that will lighten your mood on a sunny day,” says Rajat.

Designer Mandira Wirk echoes Rajat’s sentiments. “Fashion is all about expressing yourself. And the summers in Mumbai call for fabrics that will help you beat the sun. Colours also play a very important role in making one feel fresh through the day,” says Mandira, recommending glossy ice cream shades for the season. “Think pista green, butterscotch yellows, caramel browns and the like,” adds Mandira.

International designer Elie Saab’s recent show in Paris also hailed pastels as the colours to watch out for this summer. Designer Rimi Nayak’s new collection had a lot of pastel blues.

“They don’t seem apt for winters or the monsoon. This is the perfect time to indulge in the colour palette and not feel out of place. You can accessorise pastel solids with chunky neckpieces in shades of black or other darker hues to break the monotony. Pick accessories in dark shades to tone down the
brightness of the ensemble,” advises Rimi.
