Trend reports suggest that the party trend is fast catching up with Indians. Be it romantic rendezvous, a fun family trip or just jaunting off to a place alone or with a  bunch of friends — Indian travellers are ready to jet set go.

According to a report by online travel agency MakeMyTrip, the year 2011 witnessed the cities of Kashmir and Ladakh come up as a few of of the favourite places for a quiet holiday. New entrants in the list included Northeast India and Andaman Islands. The year surprisingly also saw Goa losing its longstanding leadership position and moving down to number three.

Foreign shores also welcomed the Indian traveller in 2011. The floods in Thailand didn’t deter the crowd. Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket were the favoured destination choices. Flying half way across the world also didn’t seem to be too much of a task, as the US also found a place on the list. Family holiday destinations like Singapore and Hong Kong remained the favorites for summer holidays. Interestingly enough, romance and outdoor adventure were on the top of every Indian traveller’s mind in 2011.

That’s about the year that’s gone by. But can we predict where revellers wanna let their hair down this year? Well, experts do have their party predict will be the hotspots for partiions ready. “A couple of places that come to mind are Ibizza, Spain. Newer places like Israel and France will also be show-stealers,” says travel expert Heena Munshaw. “Another trend that will grow big will be that of going to the famous wine breweries across the world particularly for the up-market clienteles.” However, “in the domestic market, Goa will be predominant still, though it has been done to death,” asserts travel agent Ameen Dharr. “Hill stations in the North will be high on the list especially in the mid year,” he adds.
