Masaba Gupta ready to unleash bright colours during fashion week

Legendary cricketer Viv Richards’ daughter fashion designer, Masaba Gupta, who is known for her trademark splash of colour on the runway season after season, is all set to unleash some more shades at the ongoing fashion week at Delhi today.

Gupta, however, insists that even though a splatter of colour is the common factor binding all her lines, the capsule she will show today is not similar to her previous works at all.

“It is, in fact, very different from what I do generally. I’ve kept the colour palette very tight this time around and the theme is very dark,” she says.

Elaborating on her new collection, Gupta says that it has liberal doses of yellow, even though it has been designed keeping the Autumn/Winter theme in mind. Gupta also showed at the recently concluded fashion week in Mumbai and says that she didn’t get any time to take a break before putting together the new line for her show in the capital.

“It is hectic, for sure,” she smiles, adding, “but the challenge for me lies in not repeating the clothes.”

Gupta says that apart from the outfits, she even made sure that the music and the feel of the show is drastically different from that in Mumbai.

“It is a lot of added effort, especially since I’m showing collections for two different seasons altogether. But a good challenge is always welcome,” she signs off.
