If you think that there was nothing like that magical moment of the first kiss, hang on, here’s something you need to know!

A recent UK based study concludes that housework gives a person the same joy as his/her first kiss. It further states that 20 minutes of it each day helps men and women feel good about themselves and that mopping was a common favourite.

Psychologist Dr Seema Hingorrany explains that housework is therapeutic to a person. “So is the first kiss! Both help you de-clutter the space — mental as well as physical. It’s all about the excitation of the mind that leads to the activation of the feel good hormones or endorphins — it’s the same feeling that you get after eating dark chocolate. Cleaning and organising clears your mind. Kissing too gives a feeling of empowerment,” adds Seema.

Singer Baba Sehgal agrees. “I believe in sharing household chores, like making tea only. I get up at 7am to make tea. But nothing compares to the feeling of the first kiss.”

Also, Chinese leader Zhang Xiaomei, in a recent speech, said that husbands should pay their wives a salary each month for doing housework. “People take it for granted that taking care of kids and doing housework are the responsibilities of women,” he was quoted as saying to the Huaxi Metropolis Daily.

“It would be amazing if wives start getting paid, then we could proudly state that every married woman in India is employed,” exclaims TV actress Rashmi Desai.

However, Seema feels once you are paid for the work, it becomes formal.

“Husbands can reward their wives with presents instead, it helps bring a positive element.”

“I will not take my wife as my maid and pay her! Imagine her asking me every month ‘mera hisaab kardo, mahina ho gaya’,” retorts TV actor Vikram Singh who states that he loves grocery shopping and helps his wife in the kitchen to lessen her stress. Sehgal, on the other hand, finds it a great idea: “Yes, all husbands should pay their wives a percentage of their pay cheques, I’d do that too.”
