Summer will come knocking soon and workshops for kids will crowd Mumbai once again. And like always, we will embrace them with open arms. Think workshops with an avant-garde twist, wherein kids will learn basic aptitudes like social skills and teamwork in a fun, creative atmosphere — where physical theatre will be used to enhance the kids’ story-telling process and theatrical masks as a medium to express.

The internationally acclaimed Swiss School Le Rosey will collaborate with theatre enthusiast Raell Padamsee’s Academy for Creative Expression and will create a specialised set of fun, interactive workshops and courses for children aged 4 to 14 across Mumbai this summer. Raell says, “They approached us and then the director of the prestigious school came down to plan things out. We realised we have a lot in common in the way we teach and what we believe in.” The school, which stresses on extra-curricular activities like flight training and horse-riding apart from academics, will have their faculties sent to teach conduct the workshops here. Emily Jane Grant, a faculty member of the school, is set to start conducting these workshops.

“Creativity will be at its maximum at these workshops. We want kids to be able to explore themselves, learn teamwork, social skills, while hoping to imbibe different techniques, which children can gain from. It’s going to be liberating and fun. We will use a lot of physical theatre,” explains Raell.
