It’s part of toon lore that Popeye helped boost spinach sales by almost 33 percent between 1931 and 1936. But that was no flash in the pan trend. A study as late as 2010 showed that children eat more vegetables after watching Popeye cartoons. So what do the toonland food faves actually spell for your health?

Spinach improves cardio-vascular and gastrointestinal health and slow down age-related brain decline. It protects against eye diseases and boost haemoglobin production in the body.
