Head to Bangalore's Skyye for clubbing

The newly opened Skyye on the 16th floor of UB City in Bangalore is quite the ‘in’ place to be at, with the right energy and crowd.

We all like to party in newer places. And fortunately for Bangalore, every new club has only gotten bigger and better than the previous one. Skyye in UB City is the swankiest place the city has right now and draws you into liking it the moment you step in. It has a certain vibe that makes you believe that you’re not in just another Bangalore club.

After all, from the 16th floor of UB City, everything looks a lot nicer. I decided to wait for a couple of weeks until the buzz surrounding this place went down. I chose three week day evenings for my trips here — Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I guess it was no surprise to see a busy crowd each day. Apparently, Wednesday had as many as 750 people!

Given the expanse of the lounge, the staff is the one thing they won’t run out of. And even though you won’t have someone hovering around you all the time (don’t you just hate that?), your glasses and plates won’t be empty for too long.

On one of those visits, I even spotted children running around the place. Wondering what kids were doing in a lounge bar, I was informed that the owners plan to create a more ‘family like’ ambience on week nights. Quite an interesting thought, I’d say. I began my evening with a signature cocktail of theirs called Samba Dancing. This Brazil-inspired cocktail has Cachaca as its base and, interestingly, uses coriander as the main spice. Served in a martini glass, this is said to be one of the more popular drinks at the place. It doesn’t have a heady kick, buto offers a cooling effect.

Fortunately for party animals, Skyye has fairly good food as well. Focusing mostly on Lebanese and Mediterranean dishes, their grills are to die for. They make a really mean Shish Taouk. Equally interesting are their fish and prawn grills. I asked for an assortment of their best grills, which had two portions of six different starters. Priced at just `600, this one is quite the steal.

Looking forward to downing some more, I got the Cinnamon Cloud Bump and Twilight Bikinis — two vodka-based cocktails with strong fruity tones. For those with a sweet tooth — the cinnamon version is a killer!

As for the ambience, you got nothing to worry about — there’s lots of space to move around, three different levels with three bars and a lot of open space for the boogie lovers to hang out.
Incidentally, they plan on keeping the main outdoor bar area open at all times, come rain or sunshine. Looks like this year, Bangalore’s party season will only get more sizzling, what say?
