Fashion designer Abraham and Thakore (aka A&T) are back for the second time at the ongoing Delhi’s Fashion Week. After keeping a low profile for more than 18 years in the fashion industry, they finally made their debut on the ramp last year.

Says David Abraham, “The response that we received at the week last year, was overwhelming. But that isn’t the only reason for us to do a show again. We believe that one must do a show, if we  have something to say — a statement making collection. This time we had a collection where we will explore our philosophy of a clean and modern designs.”

On one hand where known designers are opting for stalls instead of ramp, what made A&T choose a show? David says, “The stalls are where the business is, and if you don’t have a new line to showcase stalls are the best option. And even we have done that earlier. This time we were fortunate to get a sponsored show, which we thought was a good opportunity. But the experience of our debut show was so positive that we have a fair idea of the functioning and hence, have gathered the courage to do it again.”

A&T label has been working with their Japanese clientele for quite some time now. Have the earthquake and tsunami caused a lot of stress in the business? “It affected us for the initial 10 days, but things are now getting better. We do home furnishings for the Japanese markets. The Japanese are extremely disciplined when it comes to work. In fact, when we heard the news, we called up one of our clients in Tokyo, and they were working. It is this discipline that makes us believe that they will be back in full form soon.”
