Mumbai-based fashion designer Rahul Mishra is gearing up to show his new line at the ongoing fashion week in Delhi today. Rahul, who experiments with different Indian weaves each season, says that this time he tried to introduce a unique colour palette for the winter.

“The collection is titled 31 Shades of Grey and, as the name suggests, the designs will be in different shades of grey,” says Rahul. The colour palette will be introduced against the backdrop of unique weave techniques. Talking about why he is showing in the Capital as opposed to on home ground, Rahul says that his decision is not the outcome of any ego problems with the organisers. “I believe in putting my best foot forward and my only goal is to deliver a good collection,” he says.

The designer, who has previously worked with traditional Chanderi weaves, Bhagalpur silks and Kerala cottons, among other weaves, says, “The trick lies in taking what one would imagine to be just another boring weave and then convert it into a 21st century garment. People should want to wear the outfit for the design and not just because they want to promote a weave,” he concludes.
