With fashion weeks approaching, style season is in full swing. After Hrs speaks with designers to figure out what their signature style is.
Anita Dongre:
“I would say my signature style is very classic, feminine and simple. I love working with fabrics like muls and linens.”
Archana Kochhar:
“My signature style is all about pret and couture comprising of evening and bridal wear. I will be foraying into casual and menswear this year. My style reflects the needs and aspirations of the modern-day independent divas who take their styling as seriously as their ensemble. I constantly refer to the 18th century Indian regalia — Victorian costume and architecture to ancient heirlooms and heritages of the bygone period.”
Tarana Masand: “My signature style is a heavily embroidered belt to be worn with the lehenga. The motifs on the belt are inspired by the Moghul art.”
Puneet Nanda:
“Signature style is to do with vastness — the outlook of playing with colours, design, and clothing beyond the borders of technique, geographical origin or concepts. When recreating traditional design, it’s as classical.”
Rohit Bal:
“My signature is a perfect blend of Indian meets western. I think it is silhouettes that make for an excellent garment. I want to create a huge gap between my label and other designers.”
Sanchita Ajjampur:
“All my collections are inspired by an anthology of timeless tales from ancient Indian, Hellenistic, French and Greek-Roman heritage, which unfold on a modern tapestry that responds to genius and taste in antiquity. My signature style is very concept driven and it is timeless. Most of the garments — tees, tank tops, dresses and accessories blend art with history, mythology, legend and scripture.”
Anand Kabra:
“I think print and colour are very important. Collections are always stories that I try to narrate through clothes.”
Krishna Mehta:
“A beautiful tunic (that can take you from office to dinner), Capri pants, a scarf and embroidered pumps.”
