Most people are running helter-skelter to do their homes, if they haven’t already done so.
And if you think it’s a task to accessorise your space, help is here. After Hrs got TV actor Sweta Keswani’s house in a matter of less than an hour, with loads of contemporary flavour, courtesy interior designers Arbaysis (31) and Pooja Ashley (30) of The Ashleys.

Pooja Ashley explains how they did it. “We wanted to be more of ‘today’ but simultaneously wanted to also get the Diwali character and the feel to the décor. Hence, we chose to play around with silver and bronze and use rich brown. “As the canvas was neutral, we highlighted the area by placing some candles, oil lamps and bling throw cushions with good detailing and texture along with a rich looking sofa spread that looked just wow!

Most importantly, deep shaded rugs in shades of brown and white added a royal dimension to the space.”The end result definitely pleased both Sweta and husband Alex o’neel. “The entire space has completely transformed,” says Alex. “It looks beautiful; all ready for Diwali,” smiles Sweta.

After their wedding on October 21 last year, this is their first Diwali together as a married couple. “Even when I was dating Alex for four years, we hadn’t been together at Diwali, so this is extra-special! I plan to have loads of fun with friends and of course, my husband.”

3 tips to jazz up your home for the occasion:
Fill up an interesting-looking vase with candles and some flowers.
Add throw cushions in your living room that make for a festive look.
Oil lamps build a lot of character. Try out the varieties available.
