Come April 1 and the internet has its special edition of reading fodder — strictly embargoed for any other day but today — be it news, recipes, pranks etc. Here’s having a look at what’s making April Fool’s Day on the net.

Stealing the thunder today is the tacocopter, which made its debut on the internet space in March. The news came floating when a faux Silicon Valley start-up put up a website that described a plan to deliver tacos by means of remote-control flying drone robots.

Does that leave you secretly hopeful? The founder, Star Simpson, said that the website “wasn’t a joke” — perhaps the reason why the announcement was made a few days ago was to make it seem more believable!

he highlight of the day remains the news on our home turf, a new ipad application called ‘iPaw’ for the Indian ‘Top Dog’.

Paw, launched by Hotels.com, allows your canine book its own accommodation anywhere across the globe. Dogs can access the app with one swipe of their paw and view a host of dog friendly hotels at different destinations.

Developed in conjunction with canine expert Professor Fip Arooll, the app aims to help dogs express their hotel choice in a fun, interactive way. Alison Couper, Senior Global Communications  Director of Hotels.com, said: “We wanted to offer something to the millions of dogs living in households across India. We hope the ‘iPaw’ app will make hotel booking a much more rewarding experience both for dogs and their owners.”

The not so recent case of the Internet Explorer IQ hoax seems to have been resurrected online. It did not take much for people to believe the report that suggested that people who used the Internet Explorer browser were actually dumber than those who used other browsers.

The man behind it, however, announced that he “didn’t mean to insult anyone.” Other hot topic includes the breakthrough YouTube 1911 feature which, says a popular website, transports any video “back in time to YouTube’s earliest days, when videos were sent to us for uploading via horse-drawn carriage” and promises to make your clip refreshingly grainy and sepia-toned.
