The Mumbai-based designer is making the most of his trip to Bangalore with two high profile shows in four days.
The past week has been quite eventful for him indeed when he stated that he didn’t have time for the much hyped Mumbai fashion week! Not that just, he actually opted for the Blenders Pride fashion tour instead. And now, while Mumbai may be ruing over the fact that designer Rocky S has ditched them, Bangalore’s ended up with a double whammy of sorts.
Rocky will be first showcasing tonight at the launch of one of the most-awaited lounges in the city and will follow that up with a finale show on the penultimate day of the Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week (BFW) this Saturday. You got it right, the designer is making the most of his visit to the city.
Last week, Rocky had said in an interview, “For designers like me, buyers set up appointments and place orders after fashion weeks anyway. I don’t want to show in Mumbai, where I’m already known. It’s better suited to upcoming designers.” And it looks like he definitely means business. For the designer, who has a good presence in Hyderabad already, is considering the Bangalore market pretty seriously as well.
The organisers of the two big shows are delighted to have him as part of their event. Satya Sinha of F-Lounge, which is having its opening bash tonight, says, “Rocky is a name that’s synonymous with glamour and showbiz. He’s been part of Bollywood and is one of the topmost designers. He’s a natural choice.”
The people at the BFW are quite happy to have this flamboyant designer, returning for the fifth edition, after his grand finale during the debut season. Choreographer Sheetal Sharma, who’s working on his show on Saturday, says, “It is always nice to choreograph for Rocky. His clothes and personality translate beautifully on the ramp.”
While the old school wisdom says “a bird in hand is worth two in the bush”, Rocky S has shown how to make them his own as well!
