With the start of summer vacation, the number of kids coming to the venue has seen a rise. The place is also turning out to be a hit for organising birthday parties.
If you thought that food joints selling burgers, frankies or hand-carts selling ice-candies were children's hottest favourite destination this summer, you're in for a rude surprise! Kid's City at Kankaria has galvanised children's imagination like anything. The project's popularity has seen kids thronging the destination this summer.
Kid's City focuses on overall development of the child by engaging children in various activities of their interest. MS Patel, deputy commissioner of south zone-Kankaria Lakefront, said, "Around 450 to 500 children visit us every day.
Given the summer vacation, the number of kids coming to the venue has seen a rise. The entry fee for kid's city is Rs100 for children while for adults it is Rs150. This means Kid's City ends up earning a revenue of around Rs60,000 everyday. With the destination becoming popular, kids and parents are also organising birthday parties here.
"We receive a good number of applications for organising birthday parties. Around 10 to 15 birthday parties have been celebrated at Kid's City. It is good that parents are considering the destination for celebration as well as infotainment. This is what we want to promote," said Patel. Several tourists to the city have also visited the place and if officials are to be believed they too have found it to be an interesting concept.
On January 15, 2011, which was the second day of kite-flying festival, more than 1,500 visitors thronged the place, the highest recorded so far. Kid's City also receives visitors from other cities of the state.
Kid's City has hosted more than 32,000 visitors in the space of last four months. With a plethora of activities, the destination attracts children to NCC camps, print media room, theatre room, ice-cream factory, mini library, fire station, bank, science centre and much more which helps them enrich their knowledge.
