Actor Rahul Bose was in Bangalore to be a part of the launch of a store, and we decided to catch up with him on matters close to his heart. Quite like the rest of the country, Bose too seems most ecstatic about the country’s recent win at the World Cup.

Considering the actor happens to be a sportsman himself, we ask him if the fame and adulation for one sport is a bit over the top, but Bose says, “The cricketers accept graciously whatever is given to them; they never go out asking for it. The fact is, money beckons money and so wherever there is money, more money will come. But the fact is that the government has failed to recognise its job since 1947. Art is the oxygen of the masses, but do you see the government take the initiative to promote it? Both should co-exist in India, but the thought process is such that you tend to pull each other down. If cricket is being applauded, the rest of the sports also need to be encouraged by the government.”

The actor has been superactive on networking sites, be it in his support for cricket, rugby or for art. However, there seems to be an ulterior motive. The main reason behind Bose being so active on Twitter has to do with the fact that he does not want to be misquoted. “If anyone writes anything I haven’t said, they can always look up on Twitter for actual quotes. Nowadays, a lot of journalists just go to my Twitter page, look what I have to say about a particular issue and make it a part of their story,” he explains.

Bose’s next film, I Am, is up for release wherein he plays the role of a homosexual guy leading a double life. “The only challenge with this role was having to kiss someone with a stubble,” laughs the actor.
