Barely a month after showing her designs at a fashion week in Mumbai, fashion designer Anupama Dayal is all set to put up a completely fresh line today at the ongoing fashion week in the capital.

Titled Shalimar, Anupama says that her designs are inspired by the Mughal love for flowers. Before images of typical flowery outfits conjure up in one’s mind, she is quick to clarify, “The line is based on ornamental flower designs but, of course, they are completely quirked and cranked up in my signature styles.” Ask her if she feels like a victim of fashion fatigue, thanks to her back-to-back shows, and she says that she prefers to enjoy the challenge.

“Being able to come up with new lines consecutively is a difficult but a deliciously heady challenge. It’s like a nasha for me,
especially to execute it creatively both times. I can keep complaining about how it is bogging me down, but the fact remains that I really enjoy working on several lines and then looking forward to a much-deserved break,” smiles Anupama.

In the midst of putting the final touches to some garments, and going through the show in her mind, Anupama says that she doesn’t really care for an impressive front row. “The key for me is to be able to give it my best shot and put out designs that I can relate to. Whether they are good or bad… they have to be uniquely me and I just try to achieve that each season,” she says signing off.
