Day One of LFW concluded by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The show based on the save the tigers theme was the saving grace for a long and not-so-exciting day.

But not without a hiccup — unfortunately one of the models stumbled on the head ramp, but quickly stood up and completed her walk with élan. The show saw a quirky and boho chic take on life at the Sunderbans and the Royal Bengal Tiger.

Now, the fall wasn’t something that Sabya was disappointed about, but the designer missed the company of his two fave B'wood ladies — Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan — who skipped the event this time. The ladies, who usually cheer aloud for his show, preferred to shoot for their upcoming films than attend friend Sabya’s show. Sabya clarified, “Vidya is in Australia and Rani is shooting for a film with Aamir Khan.

They both wanted to come but their schedules didn’t permit, so it’s my loss.” Hmmm… considering the designer is also on the way to turning a film-maker soon, hope his lovely ladies don’t ditch him then!

Day One didn’t have much participation from B-Town except Riya Sen and Geeta Basra. But there was someone from the industry that not many recognised, nor expected to be present at the Lakme Fashion Week. We are talking about Bela Sehgal, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s sister, and also a film editor. Bela, who was accompanied by a friend, was present for the Japanese designers and Sabyasachi’s show. Bela has worked on Black and so has Sabya, who designed the costumes for the film.

According to a khabru, Bela absolutely loved Sabya’s designs in her brother’s last film Guzaarish, and wanted to see what his present collection was like. If khabru is to be believed, then Bela, soon to make her debut as a director, wants Sabya to design for her film. But the problem is Sabya too is set to step into filmmaking soon. Tsk tsk Bela...  guess you could wait if you really want Sabyasachi to design for your film. It’s always better late than never!
