It is celebration time for all Mickey Mouse fans! The character that made his debut onscreen on Nov 18, 1928, turns 83 today and still remains one of the most recognised cartoons around the world, regardless of age.

Mickey is a star, undoubtedly, and has become an icon by now. Hollywood personalities like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Ryan Gosling etc, are all alumni of The Mickey Mouse Club on Disney.

It even served a Launchpad to actor Hilary Duff. Beyonce, with her sister Solange Knowles had launched Mickey Mouse handbags in Tokyo some time ago. Moreover, the eccentric Lady Gaga dons Mickey sunglasses in her hit video Paparazzi while killing her boyfriend. Both the bag and the sunglasses have become a huge hit with the people. And lately, a popular fashion brand too has launched a special Mickey collection comprising of Mickey watches, pendants and earrings.

From being the mischievous and adventurous troublemaker when he was first created, to a lovable, cheerful hero, Mickey holds a special place in actor Roshni Chopra’s heart. “I’ve loved Mickey since childhood. It’s still so much fun to watch his antics with Minnie Mouse. I remember buying a Mickey Mouse cap when I went to Disneyland some years back,” she says. “Even as a kid I had all the Mickey Mouse stuff like pencils, pencil boxes, etc. And on his birthday, I want to wish and thank Mickey for making my childhood so much fun,” she adds.

“It is remarkable how one can become a child with Mickey,” exclaims actor Shruti Seth. “He has touched a part of everyone’s life, no matter how old the person is. And it is amazing how the legacy continues… I hope Mickey gets to cheer a lot many more. Here’s wishing Mickey a very happy birthday. Love you Mickey,” she adds. Host of the kid show Art Attack, Gaurav Juyal, calls Mickey his “old friend” and wishes to catch a lot of Mickey shows on TV.
