Monsoon delights



THANKS  to some unexpected showers, you know that the monsoon is almost here. And when the sky comes pouring down, all that you can think of is something hot, something spicy to savour the chill. Soul Kadhi has planned just that perfect menu for you to enjoy these unexpected showers.  Think spicy pakoras (onion, potato, cauliflower and chicken) served with khullad chai, pav bhaji, spicy besan cheela, tawa fish, chaat, veg and non veg rolls and similar snacks are all on the cards. Besides the eats, you can also enjoy beverages including lassi, a variety of coconut-based drinks and mocktails. You may also enjoy your meal with a glass of chilled beer or a glass of wine.

From Hunan to Szechuan



It’s going to be traditional Chinese for the next ten days at Oko. As part of The Gourmet Express, The Lalit Ashok is hosting The Great Bowl of China, a ten-day food festival featuring authentic Chinese cuisine from prominent regions of China. The  specially crafted will bring forth the eight culinary traditions of China — Anhui, Cantonese, Fujian, Hunan, Jiangsu, Shandong, Szechuan and Zhejiang. Look forward to relishing dim sums like Park Charm Kai and Cha Choy Lung Keen, Mud Thoang Si Chaap Ha, U-tou Kai Tank, Ho-Laan Choy, Pak Choy Chow Tung Koo, Shaan Tung Mein and Park Faan along with soups. And at the end of the menu, you can also indulge in an assortment of Chinese desserts.

Just so Moplah




This is where you can enjoy Kerala cuisine rich with Moplah flavours. Ente Keralam is hosting the Moplah Food Festival anchored by Ummi Abdulla, a pioneer in Moplah cuisine, and will feature some of the most typical dishes like Arikadukka, Pathiri, Oratti, Meen Mulakittathu and Unnakkai.

The cuisine of the state’s moslem community, particularly North Kerala, Moplah cuisine is an integral part of celebratory occasions and festivals likes Ramzan. Though the cuisine is similar to those from other regions of the state, Moplah cooking is more flavourful and richer. This food festival will introduce you to traditional refreshments like Muthari Sherbeta, Nannari Sherbeta, Kanji, Arikadukka and Chemmeen Unda, and a variety of briyanis along with delicious fish and prawn curries. Also tuck into breads like Nei Pathiri, Malabar Pathiri and Ari Orotti which you can relish with gravies like Kozhi Varattiyathu and Muringakka Manga Charu. And finally, round off the sumptuous meal with desserts like Unaakkai, Nendran Bananas, Pazham Nirachathu and falooda.

Wine and dine



Foodies in the city are in for a real treat this weekend. Inorbit Mall along with the  Karnataka Wine Board is hosting a Wine and Food Festival where one can learn more about wine pairing and the art of wine making. Along with the wine, people can treat themselves to mouth-watering continental cuisine too. You can also take part in other fun activities such as grape stomping and enjoy live band performances that will be going on through the day.
