With elections approaching, every day we get to see parties pulling a rabbit out of their hat to woo the potential voters. The Sangh Siksha Vargas (training camps) by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is one such tatic to draw support for the BJP.

The RSS had set a target of contacting over one lakh 60 thousand families of various communities across the state through the camps.

So far, nearly 4,000 volunteers were involved in the camps organised at seven places across the state. Moreover, food for swayamsevaks was supplied from the houses of various communities on the camps’ site so that the RSS people could connect with the families.

A few days back, the Congress president Rahul Gandhi had released a video calling RSS and BJP anti-Dalit. It was not for the first time that the Congress president targeted the RSS and the BJP on the issue of Dalits and Opposition parties allege that it is the upper castes which dominates RSS.

To counter the remarks and carve a secular image to send a message of social harmony, the RSS has played Sangh Shiksha Varg card. This time, the RSS has organised 20-day camps in Jaipur, Sikar, Jhalawar, Chittorgarh, Kota, Bikaner and Jodhpur for which 4,000 volunteers have registered. The camps in Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Kota and Jhalawar ended on June 2 while the camps in Bikaner, Jodhpur and Sikar will end on June 10.

The focus of the camps this time is on social equality, environmental protection and water conservation. To develop a connection and bonding with the people, it has been decided that the campers will not be cook food at the campsite and local RSS volunteers were instructed to contact the families of different communities to arrange for food.

The state RSS leaders also instructed that food should be taken only once from each house. The responsibility of collecting food from 8,000 families daily for 4,000 camps was given to local volunteers.

On all seven places including Sikar, Jodhpur, Jaipur, volunteers collected 80,000 chapatis daily for lunch and dinner for the campers. Through the seven camps held thus far, the RSS has contacted 1.6 lakh families across the state.

Siksha Vargas

“Different organisations and parties talk about social harmony, but in reality they do not work in this direction. RSS has always worked for social harmony. The Sangh Siksha Vargas of RSS is an example of social harmony, where every people from every caste and community provided food for the volunteers,” an RSS leader told DNA.
