Nearly a year and a half after receiving financial sanctions, the groundwork for Jhotwara elevated road is gearing up. The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will commence demarcation of properties along the proposed route from Friday. The authority has requested a force of 150 policemen for the purpose at a meeting held with Jaipur police on Wednesday.
"The demarcation shall be completed within a weeks period while work contracts have already been invited. As soon the demarcation is completed, work for laying service road will commence," said a senior JDA officer.
During demarcation, the JDA will also decide on issues related to ownership of affected properties and extent of compensation.
The Rs 166 crore project is expected to benefit nearly 5 lakh people residing in 1100 colonies to which the elevated road will play an important connectivity link. It will also include expansion of the existing railway over bridge. However, the development shall come at relocation of hundreds of families, 548 structures are expected to fall on the road trajectory.
"Rehabilitation of the affected families shall be done at two locations, one at Niwaru road and another in Kardhani area. Attempts are already in process to generate public consensus on the issue," another JDA officer added.
67 BIGHA LAND EVACUATED
JDA enforcement squad on Wednesday evacuated nearly 67 bigha of government land along Malpura road in Zone 10. The enforcement team pulled down illegal structure constructed on the land. According to JDA officials, the structures were erected to establish an illegal colony on government land. JDA floats NIB for construction of Jhotwara ROB.
