To take on BJP’s ‘agenda’ on social media, the Congress is set to appoint a jumbo team of spokesperson.
With tendency of news and views getting viral in a blink of an eye, political parties are spending much time in developing an army of quick-witted people who can take on the challenges of digital war. Congress is no different. For the purpose, the party national spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi was recently in Jaipur to conduct interviews of the aspiring spokesperson.
To take on BJP’s ‘agenda’ on social media, the Congress is set to appoint a jumbo team of spokesperson. “The parameters of media have changed drastically. There are a lot of new news channel, papers and moreover, online space which has also changed the way politics is done. Hence, such spokesperson will be selected who can not only be active on TV or print media, but can also quickly respond on social media platforms and interact with people,” said Chaturvedi, while talking about party’s strategy.
The Congress digital communication cell has undergone a complete makeover since Divya Spandana took over as its head. The criticism and issues raised by the saffron party and others are replied with much aggression on Facebook and Twitter. As the state assembly election is barely a few months away, the party wants to grrom spokesperson who can appropriately react with rejoinders in response to news and allegations.
About 500 aspirants who wish to become spokespersons took written test in January this year. Subsequently, a panel headed by Chaturvedi conducted interviews of 116 candidates. Nearly half dozen spokesperson are expected to be appointed.
