Taking lessons from the incidents of girls shelter homes in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the state government has also started investigating all the shelter homes across the state. 

The government has formed a state-level task force to prevent incidents like Bihar and UP. It will set up a guideline for the daycare centres, Shishu Palna Grah, private hostels or religious ashrams and educational centres run by the private institutions.

A meeting was held at the Secretariat on Friday under the chairmanship of Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Arun Chaturvedi. Taking the incidents in UP and Bihar seriously, the state level task force has been formed for monitoring. 

“The state-level task force will examine all the shelter homes and the centres operated by religious institutions on the basis of priority. Apart from this, the Child Welfare Committee and other departments, under the guidance of all district collectors will submit a report to the state government of all the private and government shelter homes across the state by August 30, 2018,” said Chaturvedi.

He informed that members of the inquiry committee will also send a factual report of the centres by communicating personally with the children. If any false information is received, immediate action will be taken. 

Chaturvedi said that the task force will submit detail report of the activities and the condition of children living in ashrams, education centres, private organizations, religious institutions, gurukuls, day-care centres related to children from birth to 18 years of age.

He said that the detailed guidelines and regulations will be formulated at the government level for the conduct of educational centres operated by the private institutions. Chaturvedi has instructed the officials to take action against shelter homes, those are operating without registration. Additional Chief Secretary JC Mohanty said that 100 children homes are running in the state and 4,000 children are living in them. 

The district level team has been instructed to investigate these children’s homes seriously through the Child Welfare Committee. The database of all the children’s homes is being prepared.
