Congress high command today said it will resolve the issue of successor to the late Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy soon after the mourning period is over.

"No sooner the mourning period is over, we will resolve this problem," said law minister M Veerappa Moily, who is also AICC in charge of Andhra Pradesh.

The mourning period ends on Thursday.

Moily told reporters that the party leadership has not initiated any discussion on the issue and suggested that the state leaders are coming and meeting the high command only on their own.

His remarks came after KVP Ramachandra Rao, adviser to the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, had a meeting with Moily last night.

Rao is reportedly behind the campaign to make YSR's son Jaganmohan Reddy the next CM.

The party has said so far that K Rossiah, who has been made the chief minister after YSR's tragic death, is an interim arrangement.

Asked whether Congress has formed a committee to resolve the succession issue, Moily said "as per my knowledge, no committee has been formed".

The law minister said he was not sure when he would visit Hyderabad as part of the high command's plans to resolve the issue.
