Ahead of resuming his controversial yatra, Congress MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy today paid obeisance to his late father YS Rajasekhara Reddy at the place where he was buried.

Jagan, who arrived at the family estate at Idupulapaya near here from Hyderabad by train in the early hours today, offered tributes to his father at the burial site inside the estate.

He was accompanied by Congress MLAs-K Srinivasulu (Koduru), A Amarnath Reddy (Rajampeta), Kamalamma (Badvel) - MLC and his uncle YS Vivekananda Reddy and another MLC Pulla Padmavati and several local leaders.

Jagan would leave for Hyderabad from Kadapa tonight. He would leave for Srikakulam district tomorrow night to resume his 'odarpu yatra' to console the family members of those who either died of shock or heart-attack following the death of his father, sources said.

Notwithstanding party chief Sonia Gandhi's reservations about it, Jagan has yesterday announced his decision to resume his controversial yatra from July eight.

Jagan, who had defied the party directive against undertaking the yatra in May also, had met Gandhi along with his family members on June 29 to seek her permission for the tour. The meeting took place in New Delhi on the request of Jagan' s mother Vijayalakshmi.

During the meeting, the Congress chief had suggested assembling the affected families at one place to console them
and also to offer financial assistance, Jagan said.

In an open letter to the people yesterday, he said, "We explained to her the need to resume the yatra to console the family members of those who died following the death of my father. She (Sonia Gandhi) did not cite any specific reason but did not appear to be favourably inclined over resuming the yatra."
