Chandrakant Barot, the 62-year-old man who fasted in support of Hazare for 13 days, ended his fast with lemon juice on Sunday morning.

Talking to DNA, he said: "This is the victory of Indian people, especially the youth. The determination and the enthusiasm shown by youths during the days of protest were tremendous. This clearly shows that today's youth have the capability to give India a new future."

Acharya Maharajs of Swaminarayan temple, Maninagar, had come to meet him on Sunday morning. They ended his fast by giving him lemon juice. Incidentally, this is not the first time that he has fasted for 13 days.

"This is my 14th hunger strike. In 1988, I had gone on a hunger strike for the textile workers of the city when the textile factory they worked for had announced a lock-up. Then I had ended my fast after 21 days," Barot said.

In 1980, he had gone on a hunger strike for seven days, he added. Talking about the condition of his health after his latest fast, he said he will have to consume only liquid for three days.
