Kailas Khatkale, a 26-year-old labourer from Pune, who consumed a poisonous substance at a Janata Darbar held by minister of state for labour Padmakar Walvi at the Congress headquarters in Mumbai on July 29, has passed away.

Khatkale, who worked with Sumith Thai Auto at Chakan near Pune, passed away at the government GT Hospital where he was undergoing treatment, police said.

He had gone to Congress office to meet Walvi to complain that he is not being paid for three months. Walvi listened to his complaint and assured that an action against his employer will be taken, according to the law.

Irked with the minister, who expressed his limitations in solving his problems, Khatakale decided to end his life.

MPCC has asked party ministers to hold Janata Darbar to increase contact with the common people. Every week, a Congress minister hears complaints regarding his department from the people.
