A 20-year-old youth from Ghaziabad who allegedly made three hoax calls threatening to blow up two Delhi Metro stations, has been arrested, police said today.

Anup Kumar was apprehended by a team of Delhi Police's Special Cell led by ACP LN Rao, additional deputy commissioner (Special Cell) Shibesh Singh said.

A senior police official said Kumar was under the influence of alcohol and wanted to have fun by making the hoax calls.

He allegedly made three calls to Noida Police Control Room on July four that bombs were placed in Uttam Nagar and Rajiv Chowk metro stations, prompting authorities to step up security at these installations and conducting searches.

"The caller said 'Uttam Nagar and Rajiv Nagar (Chowk) Metro Station ko bacha sakte ho to bacha lo' (If you can, try and save Uttam Nagar and Rajiv Chowk metro stations). He said Rajiv Nagar instead of Rajiv Chowk. It was a male voice," the official said.

Investigations revealed that the call was made from a mobile phone. The address of the caller was found fake but finally the caller was identified as Anup Kumar.

A mobile phone and SIM card used for making the calls have been recovered from his possession.
