Yamuna to become national river if BJP returns at Centre: Nitin Gadkari

BJP President Nitin Gadkari today said that Yamuna would be declared as a national river if the party comes to power at the Centre.

"Yamuna river would also be given the status of national river if BJP comes to power at the Centre," Gadkari, who landed at Kharsali near Yamunotri temple, said.

Gadkari is on a three-day visit to the state during which he along with his family would undertake pilgrimage of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines.

Uttarakhand chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who also accompanied Gadkari, announced to construct a ropeway between Kharsali and Yamunotri temples in the town.

He also announced to provide Rs one lakh for the construction of a banquet hall at Kharsali and Rs 10 lakh for other development projects in the area.
