In yet another shocking incident, a case of medical negligence has emerged, leaving the patient disheartened and in despair. Ashwin Joshi underwent an operation on his hand at Civil Hospital - but to his terrible discomfort the 44-year-old came out of the procedure with a twisted hand! Joshi has alleged that the doctors stitched his hand up in the in wrong way, because of which it became deformed.

Joshi alleges that the medical carelessness of the doctors led to this gross defect.

Showing his hand to DNA, Joshi says how and where the doctors gave him stitches inappropriately which led to a twist in his hand and palm. "My palm has become numb and the twist in the hand still causes pain," he says. Joshi was operated on November 23, 2011, after he accidentally fell from his building's terrace and injured his right hand. Joshi told DNA, "After the operation, my bandages were removed after two months. To my utter surprise, after the doctors removed the bandages, I found out that my hand was twisted as they had stitched the hand in the wrong way."

Following the blunder, Joshi's life took a turn for the worse. "My life has been spoilt and my twisted hand still pains a lot, but the doctors aren't concerned at all and treat me casually, as if no mistake was committed at all," the dejected Joshi says. But all this did not affect the man's spirit and he was ready to fight to get justice.

Joshi says that for the past one month he has struggled, but has managed to get his complaint heard by the doctors in Civil where he was again admitted for a second operation, on March 16.

He adds that he has even complained to the Civil Hospital superintendent, MM Prabhakaran. "They have accepted their mistake and I have been admitted again to the hospital, but they are treating me casually," says Joshi.
