Wrestler arrested in Delhi for sodomy

A 25-year-old wrestler was arrested for allegedly sodomising his teenaged trainee at a wrestling coaching centre in Outer Delhi, police said today.

The incident came to light yesterday after the victim told his mother about it. Amrit Lal, the trainer who hails from Haryana's Sonepat district, was arrested.

The victim was learning wrestling at an 'akhara' in Sultanpuri for the past three years. The boy was silent on the issue for the past one week. Yesterday, when his mother asked him why he was depressed, he told her that Lal had sexually assaulted him.

According to a senior police officer said, the victim was asked to stay back by Lal after a training session and he later took him to his room where he allegedly sodomised him.

The boy was taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for medical examination following which Lal was arrested.
