A woman was beaten to death allegedly by her teenaged daughter's employer in the national capital as he suspected the girl had stolen some of his jewellery, police said.

Devender Dhingra, who runs a hardware and sanitary store in the area, was arrested in connection with the murder which took place in Bhajanpura.

The incident came to light when police received information about the death of Rajkumari late last night.

According to police, the incident that culminated into the death of Rajkumari started with Dhingra grilling her minor daughter about some jewellery items which had gone missing from their house a few days ago.

Dhingra and his brother Ravinder along with their wives had asked the girl about the jewellery when she reported for work yesterday morning.

When the girl said she was unaware about it, police said, they allegedly kicked her and beat her up.

They then called up Rajkumari saying that her daughter was not well.

When Rajkumari reached the house, they asked her for the jewellery. She also denied that the daughter had stolen the jewellery.

Dhingras allegedly beat her up and took the woman to her house in Ghaziabad and searched for the missing jewellery.

When they could not recover the jewellery, they brought the woman back to their house and again beat her up.

When she passed out, they took the woman to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where she was declared brought dead.
