One elderly woman was hacked to death and her daughter injured when Sanjaya Bhaisal attacked them at Khariamunda village near Nuagam, 80km from Rourkela, the police said today.
The police said Kanhei Saa, 50, was killed and her daughter injured when she refused to marry Sanjay.
Sanjay absconded from the village after attacking them, the police said.
The injured girl was admitted to District Headquarters hospital at Sundargarh where her condition was stated to be critical, the police said.
