A city-based businessman, to ease his financial woes, cheated on his wife and married her widowed elder sister. Leveling some serious allegations on her husband, 44-year-old Tarulata Shah, in her complaint with Gujarat University police station, alleged that her husband Sanjay Shah married Mina Sangani (46), her widowed elder sister. He entered into matrimony with Sangani without divorcing Tarulata.

The FIR marks Sanjay and his parents as accused in the matter.  Ambawadi-resident Tarulata married Sanjay in 1985. According to her, Sanjay and her in-laws own the popular 'Bhavnagari Sweets' and its four outlets in the city. The wife, in the complaint, alleged that problems in her marriage started after her sister, Bangalore-resident Sangani, lost her husband in 2001. Her in-laws threw her out of the house after their son's death. Following this, Tarulata's father-in-law Anil Shah, his wife Bhanumati, her husband Sanjay and Sanjay's brother Shreyas went to Bangalore to fight a legal battle to give Mina her share in the property of her dead husband, alleged Tarulata in her complaint.

"My husband dreamt of becoming a millionare overnight and lost Rs70 lakh to a Mumbai-based trickster in the process. When I tried to stop him from putting such trust in an unknown person, my in-laws scolded me for stopping Sanjay from becoming rich and successful," said Tarulata.

According to her, Sanjay turned to Mina to recover his losses. She had by then won the lawsuit against her in-laws and received Rs2.5 crore as her share in her dead husband's property. Tarulata has alleged that Sanjay married Mina in 2010 without informing or divorcing her. "My in-laws also helped him as they were witnesses in the registered wedding in Bangalore," said Tarulata. "I was promised ownership of our Azadnagar outlet of Bhavnagari Sweets, but it never came to me," she added.
