Terming WikiLeaks report about Mayawati as "baseless and wrong", senior BSP leader Satish Chandra Mishra today said they were a conspiracy against the party ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.
"There can't be a greater wrong than this. This is an absolute lie and is totally baseless and whosoever has published this, should have verified and then gone ahead with this news," he told reporters outside Parliament.
The BSP MP was commenting on WikiLeaks report which had claimed that Mayawati had once despatched a plane to get her favourite sandals from Mumbai besides making other allegations.
Mishra termed the WikiLeaks cable as "lies" and said, "On May 13, Government was formed and then I took oath after a week. And within a week, such a thing will be said and that too at my level, there can't be a bigger lie than this."
The BSP leader said, "Newspapers should have thought before publishing this and that is why we have decided that we will take legal action against the newspapers and TV channels who have shown it and the people behind this will soon be exposed."
Asked if he had given any clarification to Mayawati on his alleged statement in the WikiLeaks report, he said, "Clarifications are given where there is any mistrust. Our leader has been alerting us against this saying that such things would happen and we should be careful. We have been asked to stay away from the media."
Mishra said Mayawati has been "warning that all such things will be planted and today she stands proved. Her warning was correct."
The BSP leader said, "Now UP elections are coming, so definitely there is a conspiracy. Many other such things will happen."
