In view of the sporadic political violence in different parts of the state, Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee today said West Bengal government should ensure that peace is maintained.
"All the parties should also act with patience and restraint," Mukherjee told newspersons here when asked about clashes of students in almost all college elections and other political violence in the state.
Asked what would be his advice to the State government in view of the violence which even today claimed two lives, he said, "The government has to ensure maintenance of peace. It also has to get the political parties to act with restraint."
Two local leaders of Trinamool Congress and Congress were shot dead by alleged CPI(M) goons at a blood donation camp at Habra in North 24 Parganas this afternoon.
