Although stung by Anna Hazare’s open threat to work for Congress’ defeat in upcoming Assembly elections in five states, the grand old party is putting up a brave face.

Law Minister Salman Khurshid said that ‘everybody’ is entitled to have own views and the Congress is not concerned as it works for the people and is serious about the bringing the Lokpal Bill in the Winter Session of the Parliament.

“We will bring not just this Bill but other bills as well; we will want the Opposition to support us,” he said.

“Congress will go back to the people with its achievements. We are not concerned if anybody targets someone, we are connected with people of the country…when the time comes people will show who they support,” he added.

Another party leader Rashid Alvi, “It is unfortunate that Anna is saying this, the parliament passed a unanimous resolution; the PM gave him respect.”

“The BJP is against Congress, RSS is against Congress now if Anna also comes out against Congress, it won’t affect the party,” he added.

Sources told Zee News, the Congress was not expecting Anna to go vocal and announce that he will appeal to people to vote against the party.

But unlike previous instances where party leaders had attacked the veteran Gandhian, this time the party is cautious and has chosen to adopt a wait-and-watch policy.
