Top Maoist leader Kobad Gandhy, who was arrested here, appears to have managed to procure a voter identity card in a different name from the national capital, police sources claimed today.

Police have seized the voter identity card bearing the photo of Gandhy, but with a different name-Dilip Patel-using an address in west Delhi's Janakpuri, sources said.

This identity card is among CDs, a pen-drive and laptop recovered from Gandhy after he was arrested by Delhi Police's Special Cell on September 21 from Bhikaji Kama Place following an intelligence input.

Residing in a rented accommodation in Badarpur and allegedly working to set up the base of the Naxalites, Gandhy was charged under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act with being a member of the banned terror organisation.

Gandhy, who is in charge of expanding the banned organisation's influence in urban areas, also used nine aliases such as Dilip Patel, Narsi, Arvind, Rajan, Katif Ansari and others while he was staying in Delhi and other cities.

"We are interrogating him," Delhi Police Commissioner YS Dadwal told reporters when asked about Gandhy. He was sent to a three-day police remand yesterday.

Describing Gandhy as a "treasure trove of information on Naxals", sources said they will be trying to ascertain the identities of those who were in touch with the Maoist leader in the city.
