The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today termed the police action against Ramdev and his followers in Delhi as the murder of democracy and said it was a "Raavan Lila".

"We condemn the action against Ramdev. We condemn the use of brute force against his followers including women, old age people and children by the poice at Ramlila Maidan during the night raids," VHP state president Rama Kant Dubey told reporters in Jammu.

"A worst type of the Raavan Lila (action) was enacted at the holy ground of Ram Lila. It is unpardonable act by the corrupt Congress government," he said.

"Action by the police is an act of murder of democracy in the country. It (Ramdev's agitation) was a national struggle against corruption...Everyone concerned today," he said.

Dubey said Congress, which is carrying "huge baggages of the multi-crore scams", wanted to fail the struggle to hide its sins.

He alleged Jammu and Kashmir too is one of the most corrupt state and needs cleaning of its corrupt politicians, bureaucrats and policemen.

"Only 20 per cent of the funds are spent in J&K while 80 per cent are syphoned off by the politicians and officials," he said.

Meanwhile, activists of Patanjali Yogapeet organisation sat on dharna in Purani Mandi area of the city to protest action against Ramdev.

They blamed the government for use of "brute force" on peaceful protestors at Ramlila Ground in New Delhi. "We condemn the action and the use of brute force on women folk and children as well," Deepak Kumar, who led the demonstration, said.

Activists of Shri Ram Sena led by its president Rajiv Mahajan also held demonstrations in the city.

Mahajan condemned the eviction of Baba in an "unethical" manner.

Various other organisations in Doda, Kathua, Samba and Ramban also held similar protests.

However, no untoward incident was reported from anywhere, a police control room official said.
