Virender Singh Makwan spills beans on more kidnap bids

Virender Singh Makwan, the mastermind in the Yash Thakkar kidnapping and extortion case, was sent to 4-day police custody on Wednesday.

During interrogation, Makwan revealed that there were three cases of assault and a case of prohibition registered against him in Nadiad. In addition, he had another kidnapping case registered against him in Vidyanagar, in which, Makwan had abducted the son of an influential MLA from Nadiad in a similar manner like that of Yash. He kidnapped the MLA's boy with the help of his friend Mehul Rao, and the duo robbed the boy of Rs5,000 and a laptop.
Makwan revealed that he and his two accomplices were going through severe financial crisis and thus hatched a plot to kidnap son of an influential businessman or a rich person on

October 18. Further police probe brought to light the fact that Makwan and his friends had tried to kidnap a rich businessman's son several times before, but were unsuccessful in extorting money from the victims.

Like in the case of Keyur, a 16-year-old son of an office worker was also kidnapped by Makwan and his accomplice Izzac Thakur on October 20 near Prahladnagar garden, but had to be freed later because of the service background of his father.

In another incident on October 21, Makwan and his accomplices had tried to kidnap another 15-year-old boy in Prahladnagar area but had to let him go because the boy told them that his father worked in an office and they lived in an apartment.

In another failed kidnapping bid on October 22, Makwan and his friends had tried to abduct two boys on their bicycles in Bopal area, but had to let them go because the children began to shout for help. They stole a cell phone from the two boys before letting them go. Incidentally, the same cell-phone was used to make calls to parents of Yash Thakkar.

In another attempted kidnapping incident on October 23, Makwan and another accomplice Akash Modi had kidnapped a 15-year-old boy riding an Activa scooter in Prahladnagar area but again let him go for fear that the boy would scream and raise an alarm.  his last attempted kidnapping on October 24, Makwan and his accomplice Akash Modi ditched the Activa bike that they had taken all these days for abducting and instead took a Unicorn motorcycle and approached 4-5 boys at different time periods during the day in the Prahladnagar area but had to let all of them because of various reasons. Lastly, on October 25, they finally tricked and abduct Yash Thakkar, which too, however, ended as a big failure for them.
