Irate villagers of Andro in Imphal East district of Manipur blocked the Imphal-Andro road todayin protest against the kidnapping of a local inhabitant identified as Ch Tombi (65) by militants of the United People's Party of Kangleipak (UPPK.
   
Official reports said Tombi, husband of a councillor of Andro Nagar Panchayat Ward no 12, Ch Radhe, was abducted by
UPPK militants at gun point from his house at Andro on November 11.
     
A caller who claimed to be a spokesperson of the UPPK told his family members that Tombi was in their custody and informed them that the chairperson of the Andro Nagar Panchayat ward no. 12, A Leirangton, had 'misutilised' funds of Rs 15 lakh for development of the local area.
    
He said Radhe should try to collet the money from Leirangton and hand over the amount to the UPPK.
