Village sarpanch arrested for helping Maoists in Orissa

A village sarpanch was arrested in Malkangiri district today for helping Maoists by playing the role of an informer, police said.

Hari Hentala, sarpanch of Maoist-infested Chintanwada in Kalimela block of the tribal dominated district, was arrested by the Special Operation Group (SOG) after keeping a close watch on his activities, Inspector in-charge of Kalimela police station, S Mishra said.

Following intelligence inputs, a tab was maintained on Hentala's movements for some time. He was arrested after they obtained concrete evidence, he said.
